CBC FUTURE LEADERS COLLEGE ADVISORY BOARD
As the industry evolves, the CBC is dedicated to fostering the next generation of leaders. The CBC Future Leaders Committee College Advisory Board works in collaboration with area educational institutions and training programs to provide students with direct access to mentorship, industry exposure, and career opportunities within the Chicago building community. The goal of the collaboration is to supplement students’ academic foundation with real-world industry integration.
Students gain access to:
- Exclusive Industry Events: Participation in a spring educational forum and a fall career fair and networking social.
- Direct Talent Pipeline: Priority access to a career fair featuring CBC member companies specifically looking for interns and entry-level employees.
- Professional Mentorship: Opportunities to engage with established professionals across all sectors of the built environment.
- Student Chapter Support: In the long term, we are looking to foster “CBC Chapters” or partner with existing Registered Student Organizations (such as ASCE, AIA, or CMAA) to provide scholarships and professional development resources.
CBC FUTURE LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP
The Chicago Building Congress is now accepting applications for its inaugural Future Leaders Scholarship, which supports collegiate and trade students pursuing education and training for careers in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. Read press release
The CBC Future Leaders Scholarship invests in the next generation of AEC professionals shaping Chicago’s built environment. By removing barriers to education and expanding access to opportunity, this scholarship supports emerging leaders who will strengthen and advance the city’s construction industry. Created by future leaders for future leaders, your support helps build the foundation for tomorrow because the future of Chicago’s built environment starts now.
Two recipients will each receive a $2,500 scholarship. The scholarships will be presented at the 2027 Chicago Building Congress Merit Awards. Applications must be submitted by January 10, 2027.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND FUTURE LEADERS EVENTS?
Future Leader events are designed for individuals with five to 20 years of experience in the construction industry who want to become more involved, build networks, develop their careers, and give back to the community. They come from all walks of life within the industry…real estate professionals, builders, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, architects, labor unions, units of government, and providers of essential services to the industry, such as financial institutions, insurance providers, consultants, law firms, and accounting firms.
The Future Leaders typically hosts quarterly events. The events are more informal than other CBC meetings, and are held at venues appealing to young professionals. They cover a variety of career development topics targeted to their interests and provide opportunities to network with other future leaders as well as current leaders in the Chicagoland construction industry.
