It’s an honor and a distinct privilege to serve as your 2017-2019 President of the Chicago Building Congress (CBC) and to continue Bulley & Andrews service to this great Chicago institution that started with Allan E. Bulley’s presidency in 1967-1969. I would like to thank our immediate past president, Paul Helmer, for his dedication and leadership over the past two years. His experience and insight are an invaluable asset and we look forward to his continued service on our Board of Directors. Thank you to our membership for supporting the CBC, since our inception in 1939. Your commitment to the industry is demonstrated every day in the professional work you do and the generous volunteer hours your offer to the Association. As we prepare to turn the calendar into 2018, my priorities for my tenure are as follows:

  • Identify and create powerful programming that is relevant and meaningful to our members
  • Continue building our membership base, by adding more tangible member benefits, so we remain the premier association within the construction industry
  • To remain publicly conscious and grow our support and commitment to the Chicago based non-profit organizations aligned with our mission

If you are new to the CBC we welcome and encourage you to get actively involved with your association. Our Future Leaders program offers a platform for our young professionals to meet and network; our newly launched CBC Discovery Groups will offer high-level and cutting edge programming that is targeted at our emerging leaders nominated by the senior management of their respective companies and firms. Our ever popular Merit Awards program, which highlights our most outstanding construction projects each calendar year, is always looking for new volunteer judges to share their expertise and perspective on impactful design and outstanding construction. Additional opportunities include our annual golf classic and fundraiser where our proceeds support the ACE Mentor Program and ACE Technical Charter High School; and possibly our most important component is developing the program for our monthly luncheons which highlight cutting edge technology and iconic construction projects most pertinent to our membership.  You can check out our Events Calendar on this web-site for details and to register for all programs and events that are currently scheduled.

Please reach out to me directly or Evie Caprel or Mark Fitzgerald at the CBC if you have any questions about volunteer opportunities or to share your ideas about future events and programming. I look forward to working with each of you over the next two years.

Sincerely,

Pat Healy
